Timmy Time Competition

The lovely people at Vivid imaginations have only gone and given me two big bundles of Timmy Time toys to giveaway!

The prize pack will include a Lulla-baah Timmy, which I reviewed previously, A Timmy Giggle Belly – which is a really cute Timmy with a drawing pad on his tummy, and he giggles when you draw on him, plus A Talking Timmy.

I’ve got 2 packs to give away to the lucky winners, and it’s going to be really simple to enter.

All I’m asking you to do is leave a comment below with the answer to the following question, Which Animation studio is behind Timmy Time  (I’m sure the Vivid Imaginations website will be able to help you if you don’t already know).

Competition closes midnight Thursday 9th June, good luck everyone!

Lulla-Baah Timmy – Review

It’s time for me to admit something publicly that not many people will agree with, ok here goes…..I don’t like Wallace and Gromit!

I really don’t like them, They scare me!

However I absolutely love Shaun the Sheep  so am so pleased that I can now see Shaun and his little friend Timmy on CBBC and Cbeebies without worrying about either Wallace or Gromit popping up.

Timmy Time is a fun family programme that we all really enjoy watching together before school. Timmy is so full of mischief which we all laugh along at, but the boys always seem to come away having learnt a lesson from it in the end.

We’ve had a rough couple of weeks recently, with the boys seemingly catching every illness that passes within 100 yards of the school, so Jacob couldn’t have been happy when our Lalla-Baah Timmy arrived to keep him company when he was lying sick on the sofa.

Timmy comes happily cuddling his special glow in the dark blanket. The blanket clings to his hand with velcro, to help keep the two together. Press Timmy’s tummy and he will Baah out the lullaby Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and then start snoring as he drifts off to sleep.

Jacob thinks Timmy’s singing is hilarious, and he really cheered him up when he was feeling sorry for himself. He and Timmy have also been found hiding under the duvet a few times in the last couple of days having some glow in the dark blanket fun, he’s definitely made a friend.

As well as the new Lulla-Baah Timmy, there is also Timmy Giggle Belly. His belly is a big doodle pad, and when you draw on him he laughs. I’m also looking forward to the launch of Picnic Timmy in July, who will slurp, munch and burp his way into your little ones heart. He sounds a lot of fun and I can’t wait to meet him, in the meantime Lulla-Baah Timmy is doing a fine job of keeping Jacob company, and not just a bedtime.

Tinga Tinga Tales Toys

Tinga Tinga Tinga Tingaaa….Tinga Tinga Tinga Tingaaa. Every time I hear this theme song it’s stuck in my head for the rest of the day. It’s also got a special place in my heart as it was the first song that Jacob used to sing properly whenever it came on TV.

Luckily for all of us fans of the hit Cbeebies show, Bandai have produced a range of toys to complement the series brilliantly. Which means lots more Tinga fan even when the shows over.

Jacob was very happy last week to receive a small Plush monkey from the range to play with, so much so that he made me drive to the delivery office and go and collect it straight away when I realised we’d missed the postman.

He wasn’t very well last week, and Monkey really cheered him up. In fact Monkey has been everywhere with him ever since, even in his coat pocket on the way to show everyone at nursery. Luckily he’s small and portable enough to accompany Jacob on all his travels.

As well as the lovely range of toys, I am really impressed with the great website www.tingatingatales.com. On the site there are games, clips to watch, and the most important part of Tinga Tinga Tales the stories behind all of the animals.

Other highlights from the range are the Up Down and All Around Monkey who has a built in sensor so he knows when he’s upside down or right way up, and his hands and tail can hang and hold onto things around the house. He sounds a lot of fun.

The Waterhole play set also looks like it could it could make a great present for your young Tinga Tinga fans. All little ones love playing and splashing around in the water, so adding your faveoraite animal friends into the mix has got to be a winner.

Like every mother with a toddler aged child at the moment, I have Octonauts mad children…or should that be Octonuts! Anyway both my 5yr old and 3yr old were instantly taken with this new ocean dwelling team of aqua do gooders.

After a few weeks I have now established that they all live together in the Octopod helping out marine life, but to be honest I’ve no idea why?

Anyhow Thomas and Jacob seem well and truly hooked at the moment, they couldn’t care less why a bunny, kitten, penguin and Polar bear are all living under the sea together. Whilst I think about it, why does Professor Inkling who’s an Octopus, the only one who does live under the sea in real life, live in the Octopod purposely out of the water? No matter I’m probably over thinking things.

The Octonauts were originally a set of 4 books by Meomi, which have now been made into a cartoon series and is later this year to have it’s very own toy range made by Fisher Price.

I wasn’t aware of the book series before we watched the show on Cbeebies, so will make sure to look for it next time we go to the library as the boys will really love to read about Captain Barnacles and the crews adventures before bed. If they go down well i’ll probably buy the set of 4 too.

Cbeebies Song Time Album – Review

If your looking for the perfect totally risk free Christmas gift for your toddler I think I may have found it in the Cbeebies Song Time CD. This two CD set released today 22/11 just in time for the big day, would make a great gift for even the smallest of Cbeebies lovers.

This lovely collection has a total of 50 songs across the 2 cd’d, including hits from all of the best loved Cbeebies shows like ZingZillas, In the Night Garden and Charlie and Lola, and also some of the lesser known tunes like Garth and Bev, the Space Pirates and Little Robots. I think the CD has the perfect mix of the obvious favourites and the more unusual theme tunes you wont find on other albums.

Jacob is 3 in 2 weeks and probably at the main target audience age for this CD, and he gave it two big thumbs up (mainly because it has Gigglebiz and Show Me, Show Me on it, which are his favourite).

He’s been a bit ill this last week with a nasty case of Chickenpox, so once he had some energy and felt a little better he had a great time dancing round the living room, and singing along to the theme tunes. Thomas had a great time too, although he won’t admit to it as he’s “too old” for Cbeebies now apparently.

I’m going to take the Song Time album to his birthday party and play it whilst all the kids run around, and when we all play Pass The Parcel. I know it’s going to go down a storm with all of his Cbeebies loving classmates, just as much as it has at home.

ZingZillas Play and Groove Panzee – Review

As you probably know by now if you’ve read Toybuzz before we’re all huge fans of the ZingZillas. So as you can imagine we were all really excited for the start of the new series 2 on CBeebies this Monday, and then the kids were doubly excited when this Play and Groove Panzee came through the door for review.

It’s saved Santa a trip  as Panzee was on Jacob’s Christmas list (don’t ask me why he didn’t want the Play and Groove Zak), so now Santas under strict instructions to get the Big Zing Playset instead!

The Play and Groove Panzee looks exactly like the Panzee from the Tv show as you’d expect, even down to her trademark Tambourine.

At first I did think her shoes were smudged and dirty (having two boys this tends to happen quite often, and remarkably quickly) but on closer inspection it’s just some of the inner workings which show through the fabric slightly.

Panzee sings and dances her way through 2 songs, showing off her versatility with a slow one and an up tempo one.

Her slow song is the ballad “Wishes” which I believe is from the new second series as I haven’t heard it before. It’s a very nice song, and it’s not just a short burst you get at least 40 seconds of singing and dancing.

You’ll notice that Panzee sways and dances at a slower speed on the ballad, and then cleverly bops away faster on the more familiar Boogie Woogy Bubbly time. My Boys immediately picked up on this and had a great time having a dance off together trying to copy Panzee dancing to a slow song and then quickly pressing the button again and going mad to the faster one. A simple game but the boys loved it.

Sorry - no matching products found.

I would most certainly recommend this toy to any other little ZingZillas fans. The Play and Groove Panzee was always bound to be a big hit in our house, and she didn’t disappoint. The only problem now is that the boys won’t stop going on about getting Zak to go with her now!

Zingzillas Album – Review

This Monday October 4th sees the release of the ZingZillas first ever album, and it’ll probably be your little ones first ever record.

Any self-respecting Cbeebies fan will be definitely be putting this CD onto their Christmas list, or if they’re really flash downloading into onto their iPod from the iTunes store.

With 26 songs to listen to and enjoy your unlikely to get bored of the songs for a good while, unless like me your little ones insist on listening to Litter,Litter,Litter over and over again! I think however my favourite song on the album is Playing a solo, I like Tang’s guitar on that one.

I didn’t think that the boys would get so much enjoyment just out of the music without the show, Apart from being a bit of background music for the playroom and a singalong in the car I wasn’t sure fussed they would be.

How wrong could I be!!

They absolutely love listening to the songs, and love it when they recognise which one is coming on or is next.  It also gets them talking about all the things they remember from the songs episode. Thomas enjoys telling me the story behind the song and what happened before the ZingZillas finally performed it in the Big Zing. I think that’s why he loves Litter,Litter,Litter so much, as he loves that episode where everyone keeps emptying the bin over Todd’s garden.

We were lucky enough to see the ZingZillas this summer at their official launch party in London, and everyone in attendance had a great time. As well as some great performances from the main attraction, we were also treated to some Bhangra Dance Classes which we had to put into practice when the ZingZillas sang their hit Bhangra Beat . I wasn’t sure if all of this had been forgotten about, but as soon as I put on Bhangra Beat when we received the album,  Thomas started showing off all the dance moves he remembered from the show. We all had a lot of fun dancing around the room to that one!

Here’s a little clip of the ZingZillas singing Bhangra Beat from when we went to see them to give you a taster.

If your looking for a nice stocking filler for your pre-schooler this Christmas you can’t go wrong with this great album. Even if they’re not already fan’s of the ZingZillas, once they receive this they soon will be!

Interactive All Around Chuggington Train Set- Review

All together now..Chugginton, Chugger,Chugger, Chugger,Chugger, Chuggington!

Yes it’s still the top rated Cbeebies program here in the Toybuzz household, narrowly beating off tough new contenders Everything’s Rosie and the Zingzillas. So you can imagine how happy I was to receive this brand new All Around Chuugington Interactive train set to review this week.

Now before I get onto the review I have a confession to make, I haven’t actually showed this set to the boys yet. I’ve decided to give it to Jacob as a Christmas Present.  That might sound really mean, but this set is absolutely huge, massive even, and way too big a toy to just give over for no reason. This set is definitely something of the big Christmas gift kind, so rather than the kids get too spoilt they’re going to have to wait for Santa to deliver it.

The All Around Chuggington set is totally interactive, the trains, the tracks, the Roundhouse..everything! Using Smart Talk technology all the trains know where they are on the set, and they also know which other trainees are nearby. So If you ride past Vee, Your Chugger will say “Hello Vee” and Vee will answer back “Hello Brewster” or whoever. The trains will also shout out as they go past the loading yard or the depot. By pressing the button on the top of the trains, they will all start having a conversation with each other.

It’s hard to explain how well the Smart Technology works. Your probably used to toys which speak a few words, well this set has over 300 different sounds and phrases. For the whole time that I was playing around with the set it constantly surprised me with the kind of things that the trains were saying and how they were interacting. Brewster was asking Koko to play hide and seek, Wilson was saying how he was afraid of the Dark, and Vee was telling everyone to be careful whilst loading the fireworks. I can really see how this would enhance your child’s play, by adding a totally new dimension to their playtime.

Being a covert and secret operation the first thing I had to do was to find somewhere to set it up and have a look at it without the kids seeing it, which was going to be no mean feat as the set is over 135cm wide when fully assembled! As they’re was no possible way I could hide a toy of that size in my tiny house, I had to wait until they both went to grannies for the night before I could get it out for a bit of a play.

After I had cut my way through yards of that metal wire they insist on wrapping around every toy and set the whole thing up, It had taken me just over an hour. 30 minutes of that it seemed had been spent trying to untangle aforementioned wire from in between Wilson’s wheels. I have to say though that it was worth it, as I was very pleased with myself when it was finished. It looks so substantial, and very much like the Chuggington from the TV show.

The main thing you initially notice is the sheer amount of track that you get. Your little chuggers will have no problem riding the rails with this set. I mention this because sometimes you only get one measly loop of track and that’s it. The All Around Chuggington set thankfully is not like that.

I also love that the set is not just flat on the ground, it’s nice to have a train set with a bit of height. You get to travel round the tracks, up the hill and then roll in a spiral down the other side. The best part about going up the hill is that all of the trains sing “Chuggington” as they pass underneath the sign.

Around the tracks there are three main places of interest where the Interactive aspect comes into it’s own, The Roundhouse where the chuggers go to sleep, The Loading Yard where you use a crane to load up the cargo car with goodies and the Platform with arch and parcel depot.

The All Around Chuggington set comes with Wilson and a Cargo Car complete with Cargo included, the other chuggers can be bought separately. You can also get some extras stops to add to your Chuggington World. The Chug Wash, Rock Quarry and Repair Shed all interact with the set exactly the same as the rest of the stops, the set and trains will all still automatically recognise each other.

To be honest I think that the set is big enough already, but I think it’s nice that you can add on extra pieces afterwards to prolong the life of your set. I’d probably buy the big set for Christmas and maybe get the other sets afterwards for a birthday, I think that’s what I’m going to do.

My only reservations are with the insane amount of batteries the set needs to operate, 11 AA’s in total! And thats just the train set, the trains also take 2 AA’s each as well. That is a whole lot of batteries. The worst thing is that it states in the instructions not to use rechargeable batteries, so that well and truly scuppered my plans. I understand that it obviously needs all the batteries as all the bits and pieces talk to each other and do different things, but it does seem like a lot.

Thankfully you do get batteries included for all the sets and trains that you buy, which is good as I doubt many people have 20 AA batteries lying around the home. The set also has a built in energy saver feature, so that after 5 minutes of no play each piece will individually turn off, and you will need to switch them off and on again. This is a really useful addition as kids are never going to switch all the pieces off after themselves.

I used the set continually for about 2 hours fiddling, playing and seeing exactly what every piece does, and the batteries were fine when I finished. So I don’t know what the battery life is, but I would suggest getting in a bumper pack when you see them on offer if you buy this set.

For a start this is a really lovely train set, it’s a very large set which looks great, the trains are lovely and chunky and perfect for toddlers little hands, and the interactive elements are a real bonus that actually add something to the play rather than just being tacked on at the end.

Although it’s big you can add on new elements if you want and build up your collection of chuggers as much as you wish. The good thing about all of the trains is that they speak in the original voices from the TV show, and it means that your collection will not only all look different, they will all talk to each other differently too.

This is the perfect Train set for any little boy or girl, Chuggington fan or not.

Timmy Time’s preschool hi jinks are probably my favourite part of my kids Cbeebies viewing (and I think they quite like it as well).

This cute Timmy doll is all dressed for a proper hip hop style dance off. With his Trainers, Baseball cap and gold medallion, he looks every bit the budding rap star ready to bust a move.

All Around Chuggington Interactive Playset

Ok this is my last Cbeebies inspired choice I promise.

The All Around Chuggington interactive Railway is bound to be a sure fire hit with your young Chuggers.

The trainees recognise the environment around them such as knowing when they get to the fuel depot or saying hi when they pass Vee. They even sing a little Chuggington, just like the theme tune when the pass through the tunnel.

Pressing their funnel allows you to hear plenty of your chuggers famous phrases. The trainees even recognise each other and have fun conversations and games together.

They’re are a few different sets out at the moment, but this is the definitive Christmas gift for your young Chugginton fan.
