Star Wars Force Link 2.0 Kessel Run Millennium Falcon with Han Solo Figure – Review

After all the fun of watching Solo – A Star Wars Story this week, we had incredible fun recreating all our favourite parts with the new Kessel Run Millennium Falcon from Hasbro.

First things first this toy is big. Its a big ship. So thats the first plus from the boys, when it comes to toys and vehicles its usually the bigger the better with my two.

Luckily even though its big theres hardly any assembly. Theres a few flaps and bits to clip on but not much. However there are a few fiddly stickers to negotiate.

Not having the best dexterity, and suffering from close up double vision at the moment my placement of the stickers was not great. I did my best and its not too bad. I really detest putting the fiddly stickers on toys. This is one job that I just wish would come already done.

Thankfully once the stickers and plastic flaps are attached your all ready to rumble, and I mean that literally. One of the big draws of the Kessel Run Millennium Falcon is all the amazing lights, sounds and rumble effects you get whilst playing.

On lifting up the Millennium Falcon you get a realistic lift off noise, next whilst you whizz the ship around in the air you get whizzy flying sounds (honestly cooler than I made it sound). There are buttons on each side of the ship. The button on the left side will make blaster sounds, and lights down the ships side. Over on the right the button is a bit more complex,

  • First press sends the Millennium Falcon into Hyperdrive with lights and sounds
  • Second press activates the rumble pack, so you get accelerated lights and sounds plus rumble
  • Final third press makes you enter Hyperspeed, so more lights and sounds and then with a final flourish the blast panels at the back and the front fly off spectacularly.

As well as all the great lights and sounds, and the aforementioned surprise blast panels. Theres lots more to discover.

It comes with the Kessel version of the Han Solo Forcelink 2.0 action figure, which looks awesome in all black.

The front of the ship houses the removable escape craft with moveable cannons that Han can use to escape the bad guys. Theres also a secret smugglers hatch which houses a container of Coaxiam, that becomes visible when the blast panels blow away.

A massive part of the new Millennium Falcon is it’s Forcelink 2.0 connectivity via Bluetooth.

I didn’t personally have a chance to check the Forelink 2.0 out as it’s a separate add on but from what I’ve seen on Youtube it looks like a very cool addition. With the Forcelink 2.0 starter set you get the wearable Forcelink 2.0, and a Han Solo figure (different to the Han in this Millennium Falcon set as that one is the Kessel Han Solo)

When you scan over a Forcelink compatible action figure whilst wearing the Forcelink on your arm, the figure will activate authentic phrases and sounds from the movies. If you have multiple figures they can respond and interact with each other. When you use the Forcelink 2.0 App on your smartphone, you can level up the characters you own and unlock new phrases and sounds.

This all sounds really awesome and i’m sure kids everyone will get a real kick out of making Han and Chewie talk to each other, or getting Luke and Darth Vader to interact with sounds during an epic play session.

We have had some great fun playing with the brilliant Kessel Run Millennium Falcon, and highly recommend it to young Star Wars fans throughout the galaxy. Thanks so much to the Hasbro Toy Tribe for letting us review this product.

Unfortunately my camera has decided not to play and I couldn’t get any photos or video of us playing with our latest toy.

However another blogger from The Brick Castle who is also a member of the Hasbro Toy Tribe has kindly let me use her brilliant video review. So here it is:

Inside Out Plush – Review

Thomas and Jacob went with their grandmother to see Inside Out over the weekend, and had a great time.

They really enjoyed all the characters, and their personality traits being linked to the emotions.

Both of them plumped for Anger as their favourite character. Apparently every time he went mad and blew off some steam it was really funny.

We were lucky enough to receive a really funny ‘Fear’ Inside Out plush toy to review thanks to Disney.

I love Fear’s shiny shoes, which glitter and shine. Also his adorable purple cord trousers and Houndstooth sweater.

Considering he has a large sticky out nose, and a piece of sticky out hair on his head, he’s surprisingly soft to hold and cuddle.

For the price (£12.95) in my opinion the plush is a brilliant representation of the scaredy cat movie character.

The ‘Genuine, Authentic, Original’ Disney Store badge sewn onto his sweater lets you know you have the real thing, and a high quality product.

Inside Out Plush toys and much more Inside Out merchandise can be purchased from the Disney Store shops, and

Disney Infinity Out Today!

The wait is over Disney Fans. The game we’ve all been waiting for is finally here.

Disney Infinity is released today, and boy does it look good.

For those not already aware, Disney Infinity is the brand new video game that allows children to use real toys to create their own virtual worlds.

From what we’ve seen so far in trailers and online it’ll be the perfect game for me and my boys. We loved the sandbox aspects of the Toy Story 3 video game, and Disney Infinity is going to be so much bigger and better. Were really looking forward to being able to build our own levels and see what mischief we can create with Jack Sparrow and Sulley. The possibilities are endless.

To celebrate the release Disney held the first ever digital character parade, the kind usually found in the Disney Parks.

I would have really loved to have been there and watched as an 80 metre high Jessie walked across the buildings, and Buzz flew up the tower blocks, but for those of us who missed it check out the really cool video of it below.

Some of the characters were even projected up onto the White Cliffs of Dover, which is really a sight to behold.

Disney Infinity is released today 23rd  August available for the Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo 3DS

Lego The Lone Ranger Set: Cavalry Builder Set 79106 – Review

August 9th sees the wait finally end for all of us to get to see the new Disney The Lone Ranger movie.

The boys and I are really looking forward to it, as they love Johnny Depp and Pirates of the Caribbean, so were hoping for more of the same but with cowboys replacing pirates.

If only to whet our appetites even more, our latest Lego Family Bloggers set to review was one of the new Lego Lone Ranger Sets – Cavalry Builder Set 79106

There are 6 different sets in the Lego The Lone Ranger collection:

  • Cavalry Builder Set (79106) RRP £11.99
  • Comache Camp (79107) RRP £19.99
  • Stagecoach Escape (79108) RRP £29.99
  • Colby City Showdown (79109) RRP £39.99
  • Silver Mine  shootout (79110) £69.99
  • Constitution Train Chase (79111) RRP £79.99

The Cavalry Builder set is the most affordable of the lot, but you honestly wouldn’t know it by looking at all the things you get inside.

For £11.99 you get 3 cavalry soldiers, a mini fold up defensive wall, a campfire with pretend flames complete with a chicken cooking in a frying pan, an impressive fireable cannon, and that’s not forgetting our hero the Lone Ranger on top of his horse Silver!

An amazing amount of figures and accessories in such a small pack.

Thomas and Jacob having been busying playing with the set for around a week now, and are still finding new stories for the Lone Ranger to play through.

The only thing the set is missing is a Tonto, but I realise that not every figure is going to be included. Plus it gives us the perfect excuse to indulge in another set.

A few years ago Thomas had the Lego Toy Story Woody’s Round Up set for Christmas, and he still absolutely loves that. So in terms of the Lone Ranger sets I think the next addition to our collection will be the Colby City Showdown set.

The Sherrifs office in Colby City showdown looks somewhat similar to the Toy Story one we already have, but we’ve always wanted a bank, so I think it will fit into our Lego collection nicely.

All the family have taken a real shine to The Lone Ranger Lego sets, the Cavalry Builder Set especially so. Amazing value for money for the amount of enjoyment you will get out of all that Lego!

TinkerBell and the Secret of the Wings

April 8th sees the release of Disney’s ‘Tinkerbell and the Secret of the Wings’ on Blu-ray and DVD.

Now call me biased but I do simply love everything Disney, so I know that the movie will be my cup of tea straight off the mark. However the other thing that has definitely cemented my opinion is the fantastic first class voice cast.

Featuring my most favourite Bond, Namely Mr Timothy Dalton, amongst a host of other massive names like Anjelica Huston, Lucy Liu, and Disney star Raven-Symone’.

I always find that although usually not all that important to the kiddies. A good voice cast makes all the difference to the watching adults enjoyment.

TinkerBell and the Secret of the Wings is a Disney Fairies movie, With Tinks fairy friends Fawn, Iridessa, Rosetta, Silvermist and Vidia. Plus a brand new fairy joins the bunch, The winter fairy Periwinkle.

The story is all about Tinker Bell and her friends taking a journey into the forbidden Winter Woods, and we all get to go along for the ride. Inside the Woods Tink discovers an astonishing secret that will change her life forever.

I was really surprised to find out that new fairy Periwinkle is Disney’s first animated character to have her hair designed by a leading hair stylist. Real hollywood celebrity hairdresser – Ken Paves. However after seeing PeriWinkle in action, she does look pretty stylish and coffered, so now you know why she looks so good.

TinkerBell and the Secret of the Wings also features some great tunes, which come as music video dvd extras. The Blu-Ray version comes with the all new Disney Fairies short film ‘Pixie Preview:Fright Light’

Tinker Bell and the Secret of the Wings is available to own on Disney Blu-ray™ and DVD now!

Wreck It Ralph Toys

Wreck It Ralph has been out for just over 2 weeks now in the UK, and if you haven’t seen it yet then what’s wrong with you? Put the laptop down and go see it now!

Seriously Wreck it Ralph is amazing, and me and the boys have been to see it 4 times now already. Once in the US whilst on holiday, and 3 times in the last fortnight back in good ol’ blighty. No film apart from Beavis and Butthead back in my pre-children years has made me go to the cinema to see it that much.

If you love Disney/Pixar films, go and see it. If you love Video Games, go and see it. If you just love a good story, then make sure you go and see it. I promise you that you wont regret it.

So obviously after seeing the film four times the boys and truly in love with it, and have been playing out all the favourite scenes at home with the toys we have. Hulk has been playing the part of Ralph, and their Princess Peach doll is the closest thing they’ve got to Vanellope. Being big videogame fans some characters we actually have the real thing of, like Zangief, Bowser and some Pacman Ghosts. So most of the boys games have been set in Ralphs Bad-Anon group.

I’ve been on the lookout for some real Wreck It Ralph toys for them, as it seems unfair to make do with imitations when they are so into the film. Unfortunately the toys hadn’t made it to Disney World whilst we were there as I know I would have got some there. So it was left until we got back to start the search.

We did however get to meet Ralph and Vanellope at whilst at Disney World, as you can see from the picture below. It was amazing and probably Thomas’ highlight of the trip.

The most logical place to start the search is obviously the Disney Store UK, and I’m pleased to say that the range didn’t disappoint. If your on the lookout for Wreck It Ralph toys and merchandise they have a great range right now. I have the Pyjamas, Boxer Shorts, and T-Shirts on my wish list for the boys. Plus the plush’s of Vanellope, Ralph and Fix it Felix Jr of course.

The Big toy of the range is probably the big Talking Wreck it Ralph (which is pictured right up the top of the page). Now this is the Disney Store version which is currently £20, but there is also another version sold by all of the other toy shops and made by Thinkway Toys. The Thinkway version is flashier and has more phrases, but it’s also double the price. So it’s confusing which one to go for. I’d probably go into the stores and take a look at both before I decided.

The Disney Store version speaks 15 phrases, and the other version has 30. The both have Ralph’s smashing hands, but the Thinkway version does something special where if you just activate one hand Ralph is a nice guy, but when you press the two he smashes and turns into angry Ralph. I like that idea a lot, so we probably lean towards that one if I had the money.

Sorry - no matching products found.

There is also a Talking Vanellope available from both the Disney Store and other toy shops too. It’s a bit confusing, so again I would suggest checking them both out to see which one you prefer.

After writing this I managed to find this commercial for the ThinkWay Talking Wreck It Ralph toys. Pretty cool I think you’ll agree.

I also love the assortment of Wreck It Ralph Racers which both the Disney Store and most other toy shops seem to be carrying (although make sure you shop around and use the online price checker below as they all seem to be at different prices)

I love the fact that it’s not just the star Vanellope, you can collect all the Sugar Rush racers. Candlehead, Queen of mean Taffyta Muttonfudge, King Candy plus all the other racers are all there.

Sorry - no matching products found.

Although not a toy I just had to show you this gorgeous reversible Wreck It Ralph Duvet Cover set I found at Argos. It’s got both Felix and Ralph on the Fix It Felix Jr game on the front, and pictures of both of the heads all over the back. I just love it.

Sorry - no matching products found.

Again not necessarily a toy but it deserves a mention. There is a Wreck It Ralph video game available for both the Wii and both the Nintendo 3DS and DS. I haven’t had a chance to get this game yet, but it has a cool feature were you can instantly swap between Ralph and Felix during the levels, when you need to wreck or fix something. It sounds interesting so I’ll probably get it for the boys for the Easter Holidays.

Sorry - no matching products found.

This half term has been taken up by another game, not Wreck It Ralph but Sonic All Star Racing Transformed. Now we bought this for Jacob last birthday, but he’s never got around to playing it as he thought it was too hard for him. The reason it’s getting playing to death right now? Thomas suddenly remembered that Wreck it Ralph is a playable character in the game! So obviously he now absolutely loves the game and hasn’t stopped playing all week. It’s a really good racer, and soooo much better than the original game, so don’t let that put you off. It would have been cool to have a Sugar Rush level in there, but alas it doesn’t. It’s still lots of fun, and great for the kids especially. Highly recommended by me and Thomas.

I’d love for you to let me know what your views are if you get any of these toys, and also if you find anything else Wreck it Ralph related for me to add to the list just let me know in the comments.

Toxic Magazines First Interactive Issue out Tomorrow

If your already looking for something to keep the kids entertained for a while this half term, then I’ve got the perfect solution. Why not get the kids the newest edition of Toxic Magazine.

The latest issue out 13th February is the first ever Interactive edition of the magazine. Featuring augmented reality technology, the magazine is choc full of video clips, and trailers all related to the in magazine content.

All you need to do to view the interactive content is download the free Aurasma app onto your smartphone or tablet, and then hold the screen over the specially indicated pages. Alternatively if you don’t have access to a smartphone or tablet you can view all the videos at

My boys were lucky enough to be sent a copy to test a few days early, and have been enjoying the magazine immensely. They were both wowed initially by the video clips suddenly appearing on the screen of their iPod, but they quickly got used to it and Thomas asked me why all magazines didn’t have this?

The interactive content includes current Toybuzz favourite ‘Disney’s Wreck It Ralph’ (we’ve already gone to see it twice its that good!) Lego, Monsters Inc, Skylanders Giants, and some pretty scary spiders.

The Interactive aspect of the magazine is very cool, and has kept my boys going back to try it again and again, but they also loved Toxic’s rundown of the top 50 Cartoon Characters and the Angry Birds puzzle Page.

This is the first time they have ever had Toxic Magazine as I think they always thought it was too old for them and overlooked it in the shops. However it’s been a big hit and Thomas especially being that bit older at 7 has read it cover to cover and keeps going back to it. I will definitely be buying it again for him.

The first ever Interactive issue of Toxic Magazine is out tomorrow Feb 13th for £3.99 and also comes with a bumper pack of gifts, including a Bow and Arrow, Squirt Phone, Parp Whistle, Pokemon Magazine and Haribo Sweets.

Just Dance Disney Party – Review

I’m a big fan of the Just Dance series, and even more so the latest incarnation as it lets me indulge in another one of my passions Disney!

Just Dance Disney Party as you would imagine is a more kid friendly version of the Just Dance series. It’s the same idea as Just Dance Kids which we previously reviewed, however this version is stacked to the rafters with your favourite Disney Hits.

We were sent a copy of the Nintendo Wii version to test by Ubisoft, and the boys also got some fab Rubies costumes of Buzz Lightyear and Woody from Toy Story to wear whilst dancing.

The Track Listing is great. All the Disney hits you would expect, and some unexpected gems you may have forgotten about.

  • “The AristoCats” ( “Ev’rybody Wants to Be a Cat”)
  • “Beauty and the Beast” (“Be Our Guest”)
  • “Bolt” (“I Thought I Lost You”)
  • “Cinderella” (“Bibbidi-Bobbidi–Boo”)
  • “Enchanted” (“That’s How You Know”)
  • “The Jungle Book” (“The Bare Necessities”)
  • “Lilo & Stitch” (“Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride”)
  • “The Little Mermaid” (“Under the Sea”)
  • “Mary Poppins” (“Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”)
  • “Peter Pan” (“Following the Leader”)
  • “Tangled” (“Something That I Want”)
  • “Tangled” (“I’ve Got a Dream”)
  • The Muppets” (“The Muppet Show Theme”)
  • “Tinker Bell”, “Fly to Your Heart
  • “A.N.T. Farm” (“Calling All the Monsters”)
  • “Camp Rock” (“This Is Me”)
  • “Good Luck Charlie” (“Hang In There Baby”)
  • “Hannah Montana” (“Hoedown Throwdown”)
  • “High School Musical” (“We’re All In This Together”)
  • “Jessie” (“Jessie Theme Song”)
  • “Phineas and Ferb” (“S.I.M.P.” “Squirrels In My Pants”)
  • “Shake It Up” (“Shake It Up”)
  • “Shake It Up” (“Twist My Hips”)
  • “Wizards of Waverly Place” (“Everything Is Not As It Seems”)
  • “It’s a Small World”

We were all very familiar with most of the songs, which always helps with these games. Although some of the tracks from the Disney Channel shows like A.N.T Farm, Shake it Up and Jessie I didn’t know. They have just started enjoying ‘Kickin’ it’ on the Disney Channel, so I suppose I will get to know these soon.

I was particularly pleased to find the High School Musical song on there, as I haven’t managed to convince my son to watch it with me yet. However after really enjoying this song he’s agreed to sit down and watch it this weekend. Result!

The game itself is really fun, and certainly had me and Thomas out of puff whilst playing. After a few dances I was knackered. A great fun way to get the kids to do some sneaky exercise and burn some energy.

The dance moves are easy to follow for even the youngest of gamers. The children onscreen dance along with the song and show you all the moves, along with graphics on the screen showing you as well. Thomas and I especially enjoyed the duet songs, where 2 players had different moves and ended up making a little routine. You can do these songs if your only one player too, but having someone to dance with was such a laugh. We kept bumping into each other and were constantly in giggles.

Jacob who’s a bit younger can get quite shy and took a little while to get into it, and was quite happy to watch us two messing around for a few songs. Once he’d psyched himself up, he was fine and did really well. He loved dancing along in his Buzz Lighyear costume, even though we were dancing to Phineas and Ferb.

Talking of Phineas and Ferb they could fill a whole game of their own songs, so maybe that’s the next thing Ubisoft could get onto – Just Dance Phineas and Ferb Party.

Not sure why the boys are so serious in this video. I think it’s because they knew I was filming and didn’t want to mess up :)

Just Dance Disney Party is a great way to get the kids moving around and active, however it also helps them to calm down and concentrate on following the instructions and directions onscreen. A really fun game that everyone will enjoy.
