Star Wars Force Link 2.0 Kessel Run Millennium Falcon with Han Solo Figure – Review

After all the fun of watching Solo – A Star Wars Story this week, we had incredible fun recreating all our favourite parts with the new Kessel Run Millennium Falcon from Hasbro.

First things first this toy is big. Its a big ship. So thats the first plus from the boys, when it comes to toys and vehicles its usually the bigger the better with my two.

Luckily even though its big theres hardly any assembly. Theres a few flaps and bits to clip on but not much. However there are a few fiddly stickers to negotiate.

Not having the best dexterity, and suffering from close up double vision at the moment my placement of the stickers was not great. I did my best and its not too bad. I really detest putting the fiddly stickers on toys. This is one job that I just wish would come already done.

Thankfully once the stickers and plastic flaps are attached your all ready to rumble, and I mean that literally. One of the big draws of the Kessel Run Millennium Falcon is all the amazing lights, sounds and rumble effects you get whilst playing.

On lifting up the Millennium Falcon you get a realistic lift off noise, next whilst you whizz the ship around in the air you get whizzy flying sounds (honestly cooler than I made it sound). There are buttons on each side of the ship. The button on the left side will make blaster sounds, and lights down the ships side. Over on the right the button is a bit more complex,

  • First press sends the Millennium Falcon into Hyperdrive with lights and sounds
  • Second press activates the rumble pack, so you get accelerated lights and sounds plus rumble
  • Final third press makes you enter Hyperspeed, so more lights and sounds and then with a final flourish the blast panels at the back and the front fly off spectacularly.

As well as all the great lights and sounds, and the aforementioned surprise blast panels. Theres lots more to discover.

It comes with the Kessel version of the Han Solo Forcelink 2.0 action figure, which looks awesome in all black.

The front of the ship houses the removable escape craft with moveable cannons that Han can use to escape the bad guys. Theres also a secret smugglers hatch which houses a container of Coaxiam, that becomes visible when the blast panels blow away.

A massive part of the new Millennium Falcon is it’s Forcelink 2.0 connectivity via Bluetooth.

I didn’t personally have a chance to check the Forelink 2.0 out as it’s a separate add on but from what I’ve seen on Youtube it looks like a very cool addition. With the Forcelink 2.0 starter set you get the wearable Forcelink 2.0, and a Han Solo figure (different to the Han in this Millennium Falcon set as that one is the Kessel Han Solo)

When you scan over a Forcelink compatible action figure whilst wearing the Forcelink on your arm, the figure will activate authentic phrases and sounds from the movies. If you have multiple figures they can respond and interact with each other. When you use the Forcelink 2.0 App on your smartphone, you can level up the characters you own and unlock new phrases and sounds.

This all sounds really awesome and i’m sure kids everyone will get a real kick out of making Han and Chewie talk to each other, or getting Luke and Darth Vader to interact with sounds during an epic play session.

We have had some great fun playing with the brilliant Kessel Run Millennium Falcon, and highly recommend it to young Star Wars fans throughout the galaxy. Thanks so much to the Hasbro Toy Tribe for letting us review this product.

Unfortunately my camera has decided not to play and I couldn’t get any photos or video of us playing with our latest toy.

However another blogger from The Brick Castle who is also a member of the Hasbro Toy Tribe has kindly let me use her brilliant video review. So here it is:

Lego Star Wars Force Friday

Never has getting up early before school been more worth it!

This morning our lovely postman rang the bell with a special delivery from Lego for us.

All in aid of Force Friday, the day when all the new Star Wars movie – The Force Awakens toys are released, which if you hadn’t already heard just happens to be today.

We received 2 brand new sets from the Lego Star Wars build able figures range. Theres 6 different buildable figures to choose from:

  • Jango Fett (RRP £14.99)
  • Clone Commander Cody (RRP £14.99)
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi (RRP £19.99)
  • Luke Skywalker (RRP £19.99)
  • Darth Vader (RRP £24.99)
  • General Grievous (RRP £29.99)

We were sent Obi-Wan and General Grievous, and were thrilled with them. General Grievous is arguable the best new character from the prequels, I mean he has 4 lightsabers, you can’t argue with that.

We didn’t have lots of time before school, so General Grievous is only half built so far (I’ll add a picture when he’s built). Thomas did however finish building Obi-Wan this morning, and he looks so cool.

He doesn’t look like he’s built out of Lego, it looks like a brilliant action figure or model. The way he stands up and holds his lightsaber is awesome. Plus he’s so flexible, you can put him in so many battle poses.  I especially like his wonderful flowing cape.

The boys didn’t have any trouble putting the sets together. It probably helps that they are both huge Lego Hero Factory fans, as the Star Wars buildable figures use a lot of the same pieces, and are built similarly.

Update: General Grievous is now finished!!

Heres a video of our special Force Friday delivery unboxing

As well as the buildable figures, there are 7 new The Force Awakens Vehicle sets –

  • Millennium Falcon (RRP £129.99)
  • Kylo Ren’s command shuttle (RRP £99.99)
  • First Order Transporter (RRP £79.99)
  • Poe’s X-Wing Fighter (RRP £69.99)
  • First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter (RRP £59.99)
  • First Order Snowspeeder (RRP £39.99)
  • Rey’s Speeder (RRP £19.99)

Jacob has already asked me for Kylo Ren’s Command Shuttle for christmas. He really wants a Kylo Ren mini figure, with that super cool cross lightsabre.

He’s also got his eye on Poe’s X-Wing Fighter, as he’s after one of the super cute BB-8 mini figures. Plus there seems to be a lot of projectiles included, which is always a plus for him.

Thanks so much to Lego for making our Force Friday super!

Star Wars Day Bloggers Challenge

Happy Star Wars Day everyone!

In the Toybuzz household we’ve been building up to Star Wars day for the last few weeks by watching all the movies each Sunday, culminating with Return of the Jedi tonight. Popcorn is ready and were good to go.

To celebrate the day we were sent a lovely Star Wars Lego Microfighters set, and issued a bloggers challenge of picturing our fighter in a new world, discovering a new planet.

We received a Snowspeeder, and Jacob set about building it straight away.

I absolutely love the Microfighters range as the sets are small enough for him to build in one go without getting frustrated, but your still left with an awesome sized vehicle to get hours of play out of afterwards.

We’ve previously purchased the Vulture Droid and Homing Spider Droid, so the Snowspeeder fitted into his collection perfectly, and once again the build engaged him without stressing him out, which is perfect.

Now our Snowspeeder is all built, he’s ready to fly off and find a new planet. Apparently he’s sick of the snow now and is looking for somewhere lush and mountainous.

First stop on his adventure and he seems to have stumbled onto some psychedelic craters. There seems to be debris from previous crashed spaceships here as well, so he flies off again sharpish before he gets trapped too.

But then oh no! He flies straight into an asteroid field. He’s gonna need some seriously skilful flying to get out of this one.

Luckily he survived the asteroids, but watch out it’s a trap!  He ends up getting himself tangled in some cargo nets, and he doesn’t look too happy about it.

Finally he’s made it, we’ve found the mountains. Well done plucky Snowspeeder pilot.

As you can see we had loads of fun with our new Lego Microfighters set.

May the fourth be with you everyone.

75023 Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar – Review

Last week we received the most amazing box of goodies from the lovely Lego Family Blogger Panel, which was simply overflowing with blocky goodness. It’s going to keep us busy for a long time I think.

In fact the box was so big I’ve had to bring out a set at a time as there is so much, so the reviews will keep on coming over the next month.

Firstly I wanted to write a quick review of the first item we picked out the box, the Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar.

It’s been a real treat for the boys getting a new little Lego model or mini figure every morning. I had to set up a rota of opening to end any arguments.

So far we’ve got R5-F7, an Endor Rebel Trooper, and a medical droid I think? Plus lots of little ships.

The ones were really waiting for however are the Little Boba Fett and the Santa Jango Fett. Were also excited about getting a Geonosian, as we haven’t got one of those yet.

I like the way that the box flaps open, so it’s stable when standing. Plus it acts as a little playmate for displaying all your new Lego models.

Lego is always going to go down well with the kids, and a new Lego model everyday is even better. A brilliant gift that keeps on giving all month.

Plus as it’s already the 9th of December you should be able to find the Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar for a discount now, so it’s an even better deal.

Disclosure: Thanks to the Lego for sending this out to us as part of our participation in our Lego Family Blogger Panel

May The 4th be with you : Star Wars Day Events in the UK

This Saturday is May the 4th, otherwise know as Star Wars Day.

All over the world Star Wars fans will be gathering for events, and toy shops seem the perfect place to me for events to be held.

I actually thought that more of the big toy shops would have something going on, especially as the day is a Saturday. So this little post is just to promote the stores that are getting in the spirit and celebrating May the Fourth!

I am not connected with any of the below events. I just wanted to list a few toy related Star Wars Day events in the UK. If i’ve missed any that are local to you, please contact me and I’ll add them to the list.

Ducklings Toy Shop Marlborough, Wiltshire will be hosting a range of Star Wars Day activities, as well as their Lego Minifigure and Moshi Monsters swap day

Forbidden Planet

As well as Star Wars Day, May the 4th also happens to be Free Comic Book Day. Check the website for details of store participation and opening times. The website says that they will have goody bags suitable for all ages, and you might even be lucky enough to bag a Star Wars comic.

If you’re looking for Star Wars Days events and you have a Hamleys near you, then I think you’re in luck. Hamleys definitely seem to be putting the most effort in, and have a really strong lineup of events in all of their stores.

Were lucky enough to have the brand new Cardiff store just down the road, so if you’re looking for us May 4th. This is where we’ll be :)

Hamleys Cardiff will see Boba Fett running a craft workshop, and a special green screen installed for you to transport yourself into the Star Wars universe (additional cost)

Princess Leia, some Stormtroopers and possibly a Jedi Knight will be popping over to Hamleys Regent Street

Hamleys Glasgow are pushing the boat out with nearly everyone from Star Wars attending.

“Darth Vader, Stormtroopers, Gamorrean Guard Sandtrooper, Imperial Gunner, TIE Pilot, Tusken Raider, Tarfful the Wookie, Jedi Knight and a Biker Scout…. and a very special appearance by R2-D2 on Sunday May 5th!

The Hamleys Entertainment Team will also be dressing up and joining in the Galactic Fun! So you might even get to meet Princess Leia and even Yoda. “An amazing weekend this will be”!

And Hamleys Dublin are running several Star Wars workshops and a Facebook competition where you can win 100Euros worth of Star Wars Goodies

I love that Hamleys have got so into Star Wars day, and have even made this video.

Legoland Windsor

Although not a free event as you obviously have to pay the entrance fee, I wanted to give the Legoland Windsor Star Wars weekend a mention as it looks like it’ll be a lot of fun. You can download the leaflet all about it here: Legoland Star Wars Weekend

Toy filled Advent Calendar’s – Lego, Playmobil, Moshi Monsters and More

Last year we as a family had the pleasure of reviewing the Lego Star Wars advent calendar. It was our first foray into the world of the filled advent calendar, before that we’d always gone with the traditional chocolate ones. After the excitement of getting a new Lego Star Wars toy everyday I think the days of the chocolate calendars are over for us, It was just too much fun.

The main plus point of them is that instead of a small insignificant piece of chocolate every morning, you now get a really cool toy which your youngster will obviously get x100 more play out of. The Santa Yoda we had out of the Lego Star Wars advent calendar last year has been played with most days for the last year.

The downside is they do tend to be rather expensive. However if you have a young Lego Star Wars, Playmobil or Moshi Monsters fan than they act as an early christmas present every morning leading up until the big day.

The big 2 brands that everyone instantly thinks of are the Lego and Playmobil calendars. However I was surprised by how many of these toy filled advent calendar there are available right now. The Moshi Monsters Moshlings Advent Calendar is a new one for this year, and I can imagine it being very in demand.

Here’s a round-up of all the toy filled advent calendars on the market right now:

Ideas for things to do with the kids this Half Term

Having two boys to keep entertained when the schools are off, I’m always on the look out for fun (and relatively cheap) things to do.

As I’ve been on the lookout for myself I thought I’d write a quick post just letting you know a few of the things that I’ve found.

Smyths Toys

For fans of Moshi Monsters this one is a real must if possible.

The Moshi Monsters Tour Bus will be travelling next week to Smyths Toystores in Bristol and Cardiff (Yipee! I’ll be there!!!)

The Moshi Tour  Bus will be at

  • Smyths Toys Cribbs Causeway Bristol from 11-14th February
  • Smyths Toys Leckwith Cardiff from 16th – 19th February

There promises to be tons of fun inside for your little Moshlings like card swapping, Moshi arts and crafts, Clay buddies, Visit the Moshi shop on the top decks, and then exit by using the bus slide! and if that’s not enough, the chance to grab an exclusive ‘Busling’ Topps Trading card.

Full details of dates and times can be found on the Moshi Monsters Website Blog.

National Media Museum Bradford

For some more Moshi Monsters fun be sure to visit the National Media Museum in Bradford.

They are running a whole week of Moshi Monsters related free activities for all the family.

There will be amongst other things:

Moshi Monster Clay Buddy Animation workshops

Moshi Monsters Green Screen – Where you’ll be able to have your photo taken next to your Moshi heroes and take it home as a memento of your day

A Moshi Monsters Treasure Hunt

There is even rumoured to be a super secret Mosh-tastic surprise!

Full details dates and times can be found on the National Media Museum website.

The Entertainer

To celebrate the release of Star Wars Episode 1 in 3D, The Entertainer Toy Shop’s are running a whole week of free Star Wars related activities.

As you can see there will be fancy dress days, Lightsaber demo’s and my personal pick the Darth Maul hunt.

Best part, it’s all free. Ok so you might get roped into getting some new toys while your there but they ahem some great Half Term special offers running which should help.

Like 50% off this Star Wars Attack on Hoth Vehicle.

Cbeebies star Mister Maker is also on tour this Half Term. The Maker Mobile will be making stops at Hobbycraft stores in:

Staines, Orpington, Cheltenham, Aylesbury, Swansea, Leeds, Cambridge, Crewe and Staples Corner.

Check out the store finder on the Hobbycraft Website for full details of dates and times.

This last one isn’t free, but we can’t have everything can we. Sometimes a day out at a Theme Park is just what the doctor ordered, and next week fans of Cbeebies Raa Raa the noisy lion should make their way down to Chessington World of Adventures for their African Adventures week.

Young Adventurers will get the chance to immerse themselves into african culture, with face mask decorating, jewellery making, African inspired singing, dancing, and drumming, plus the chance to meet lots of african animals in Chessington’s zoo.

Raa-Raa the noisy lion will be making appearances for meet and greets around the park, and if your staying at the resort hotel he will even join you for breakfast.

Hope you enjoyed my round-up of a few toy related things to do, to help keep you and the kids entertained this Half Term.

Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar Day 23 & 24 – Review and Competition

Ok so here we are with the last two windows left to reveal.

Behind Day 23’s window was a wonderfully festive Christmas Tree, complete with a gorgeous Lego star on the top.

It’s a very nice little thing, and Thomas and Jacob have both had lots of fun adding it into their Lego games. Thomas actually had me in tears laughing playing with the tree and the Clone Trooper. The Clone Trooper kept waking up on Christmas morning to find a present under his tree, usually it turned out to be a bomb or something.

The final Window on our calendar, Day 24. As suspected I think Lego definitely saved the best till last, today we finally got to the Santa Yoda!

He’s so funny. He’s got a sack on his back with some Lego presents inside, and a stick for some reason that I’m not sure of.

All that’s left to say is thank you very much to the people at Lego, we’ve all had a brilliant time checking out this great calendar. After this I will definitely be looking to buy another Lego calendar this year instead of a plain old chocolate one. I mean it’s not as if they don’t get enough chocolate at Christmas anyway, and all of the great figures we’ve had in this set will last forever rather than just the 24 day run up to Christmas Day.

Sorry - no matching products found.

So that’s all folks the end of the Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar……well not quite as now it’s time for 5 of you lucky lot to win one for yourself and your family this Christmas.

To win all you need to do is leave a comment below letting me know your favourite Lego Star Wars Character and why. Competition closes on the 31st October. Good Luck everyone!

Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar Day 21 & 22 – Review

We woke up yesterday morning to window 21 of our Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar, behind it being this very dinky model of the Millennium Falcon.

It’s a really nice little figure, and looks incredibly like the movie version. I love the see through blue bricks used as the boosters on the back.

Thomas also wanted me to tell you about our little visit to the Lego store today. Not only did he enjoy spending some of his birthday money he’s been saving on a Lego Star Wars Darth Vadar Clock, but he also got a another free Lego Star Wars toy to take home as well!

This morning  Day 22 saw us find this little ship. I’m not sure what type of ship it is, possibly a snow speeder? I don’t really know. To be honest I think that’s possibly one thing missing from this calendar, I would have really liked each day to say what the model was of.
