I had a great time at the show, and as you can imagine was in my element playing with all the new toys and gadgets, I also got loads of new ideas for toys to cover in the future. So be prepared for a Toybuzz deluge, as it’s look like Dream Toys is going to keep me busy all the way up until the big day itself!

Transformers Animated Supreme Roll Out Command Optimus Prime

The Transformers Animated Supreme Roll Out Command Optimus Prime was a bit of an impulse buy for Christmas, as we saw it on offer and thought it would be good for bulking up the presents.

Even though he doesn’t watch Transformers, he loves robots and things like that so we knew it would be a hit. He also has a small Bumblebee Transformer that he plays with, so the Optimus Prime will go with it well.

I didn’t want to take it out of the box as it’s for Xmas, but I’ve had a play with it all the same.

The Transformers Animated Supreme Roll Out Command Optimus Prime has a moving mouth, which is really clever. As he speaks his range of phrases, it looks like he really is talking, it’s quite cool.

The big selling point of this toy is the roll out transformation. When he’s in his truck mode, as you push him along he spins around and transforms in to Optimus Prime. You then just need to stand him up and he’s ready for action. He also makes the infamously cool transforming noise when he rolls out.

In his hands he Carry’s a big battle axe, which when in his hands if you press a button out pops a huge blade and a flame. If you move the other arm, he makes a sort of clashing blade noise and after a few times laughs. I really think kids will find all of the noises and sounds hilarious, however i think they may get slightly annoying.

I know I wouldn’t have bought this item at full price, as I believe it was around £60.00 when it first came out. However i think it’s a good toy and especially good for mad Transformers fans.

My hubby can’t wait till Christmas to open it and see it working. He’s just a big kid at heart.

Marvel Transformers Crossovers

Superheroes are the big thing in our house at the moment. Days are filled by alternating epic battles between Spiderman, Venom and the Sandman with watching X-men, spectacular Spiderman and Ironman cartoons. My husband even got in on the act by sending me to Blockbusters to rent The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man and The Dark Knight, leaving me looking like some comic book convention attending geek having an all night movie marathon.

Even though my son has been drawn into the whole X-men thing by the current movie hype, I’m still not relenting with regards to the Wolverine Electronic Claws. However that hasn’t stopped him trying to garner some new toys featuring his favourite comic book heroes, like the new Marvel Transformer Crossovers.

These new incarnations cleverly transform from vehicles into characters. All the best loved Marvel heroes (and a villain) are here, Spiderman, Venom, Hulk, Wolverine and Iron Man. These seem to be the only ones available in the U.K at the moment. Looking at the U.S. sites it seems there are a lot more like Carnage and Captain America, no doubt they will becoming to our shores in the near feature.

You might think these are Transformers Crossovers are a blatant attempt to sell yet another set of the same figures you’ve already got by tying lots of successful franchises together, but you’d be sorely mistaken. As with every great comic book hero there’s a back story.

According to the official Hasbro toyshop site ” Basing their designs on alien technology, Mr. Fantastic and Iron Man create powerful new battle suits for the heroes of Earth”.  Unfortunately the plans fall into the wrong hands because “Based on prototypes stolen from nemesis Mr. Fantastic, Doctor Doom builds a series of mechanised war-suits for the use of the world’s worst Super Villains” and so new battles await all of our heroes.

The transformations themselves are really well done. A snazzy motorbike transforms into Spiderman, a menacing black car turns out to be Venom, Iron Man converts to a fighter jet, Wolverine is a re-imagined as a jeep and Hulk is a heavily armoured tank.

Judging by some of the videos I’ve watched on You Tube of people actually transforming the figures from vehicle to Hero seems time consuming and confusing. I know that my 3 year old wouldn’t be able to do it. Although they are age rated as 5 and upwards, I still doubt that any 5 year old would have the patience to take 10 minutes changing them back and forth during play.

They do seem like a good idea and i think it’s an idea very well executed, however I wouldn’t buy one of these for my son yet as I know I’d spend all day having to fiddle with it. If you think your kid (or big kid) would have the patience for it then I think that it’s a great gift, and would lead to many hours of fun saving the world from Doctor Doom and his cronies.

Go Spidey!

Is this the ultimate Transformers toy!

As soon as I saw a picture of this toy I just thought how can I stop my son (and husband) from seeing it.

The Construction Devestator is part of the new range of toys due to be released to tie in with this years predicted big summer blockbuster Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. So confident that the movie will be a sure-fire hit the release date for Transformer 3 has already been announced  (4 July 2011, my birthday!).

The Construction Devastator will be the biggest and most powerful of all the enemies the Autobots will meet in the movie. Made up of different construction vehicles known as Constructicons it looks set to be the toy that ever boy wants this summer, and conssidering it will set you back around £100 I suspect most boys will still be wanting it until the January sales.

There’s a whole host of new Transformers toys to look forward to this summer not just the Construction Devastator.  The Bumblebee Voice Mixer Helmet lets kids young and old mix there own voice with music and “tune-in radio phrases” just like Bumblebee.

Also from my son Thomas’ favourite Autobot Bumblebee is the Bumblebee plasma cannon. This is an arm blaster which converts from Bumblebee’s robot arm into his plasma cannon, and features lights and sounds and the all important Transformers trademark sound effects which all boys love making.

Looks set to be a bumper time for Transformer toy fans so better make some room in the toybox.
