Diary of A Wimpy Kid 2:Rodrick Rules – Review
Sunday nights in our house are family movie nights, and this Sunday we had the pleasure of enjoying Diary of A Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules with our popcorn.
I’ll start by admitting that we hadn’t actually seen the first movie, or read any of the books. So we were all jumping into it as total Wimpy Kid newbies. It didn’t matter however as although if you’ve watched the first instalment you’ll already be familiar with Greg, Rowley and Fregly, Wimpy Kid 2 didn’t leave me feeling that I’d missed out. You soon get to know and love all the characters.
The story is all about Greg’s mum trying to get him and his older brother Roderick to get along with each other better (boy do I know that feeling) It doesn’t initially go to plan, but after the boys throw a massive party when they get left at home overnight, they seem to settle their differences and may actually like each other after all . Unfortunately this doesn’t last for long…so will Greg and Rodrick ever make up? Well you’ll have to watch the movie to find that out.
Diary of A Wimpy Kid 2 has some classic moments that we can all relate to, young and old. There was one scene where Greg ends up in the ladies bathroom by mistake, and my 5 yr old had his mouth wide open, totally dumbstruck. Others like Rowleys attempt at a lip dub of Ke$ha’s Don’t Stop had us all laughing out loud.
We all as a family enjoyed this film immensely, much more than any of us expected to. We even went straight onto Amazon and bought the first film ready for this Sunday, it really is that good.
It’s also left us all singing Exploding Diaper all week (you’ll have to see the film to get that)
Diary Of A Wimpy Kid 2 is out on DVD and Blu-ray on the 19th September 2011.
