Horrid Henry: The Movie DVD – Review
I have to admit that when I saw this DVD of the new Horrid Henry Movie come through the door for review a shudder went down my spine. Regular readers may remember my review from the preview screening we attended earlier this year, when I admitted that this was probably not the best I’ve ever seen, in fact I probably count it as one of my least favourite films I’ve seen.
The thing is however, this movie is not for me is it. This is definitely a film just for the kids, and boy are they going to love it! My son’s both really enjoyed it when we went to the cinema, and so were over the moon when the dvd came in the post, it went out of the envelope literally straight into the DVD player!
Horrid Henry: The Movie has everything that children could want in a film, it’s got splats, gunge, water bombs, not doing homework, kids pretending to be rock stars with loud guitars. My boys have watched it everyday for the last 4 days, they love it so much.
The film is all about Henry and his friends and them working together to stop their school being closed down a couple of shady school inspectors. Richard E Grant stars as the headmaster of the rival private school in the area, who’s secretly trying to pinch all of Henry’s school’s pupils. For me he is the best part of the movie, as I’ve always loved him as an actor. For the boys I think their highlight is when Henry ends up appearing on an episode of ’2 Cool 4 School’ his favourite TV Show which he often mentions in the cartoon series. Also the musical numbers always have Jacob head banging around the living room.
For me it’s never going to be my favourite movie, but at least by having it on DVD I can potter around and do other things in-between watching bits, while the kids enjoy it.
Horrid Henry: The Movie is released on DVD, Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray Family Pack on November 28th.
