Me and the boys have been having some smashing fun this Bank Holiday Weekend – And when I say smashing I do literally mean stuff smashing together, Namely Hot Wheels Cars.
You see we’ve been testing the new Mid Air Madness set from Hot Wheels Wall Tracks range.
Jacob has seen Wall Tracks advertised a lot on television recently, so was really excited when we received a set to review.
The set was very easy to set up and get going with. Firstly you need to hang up the poster, which gives you an amazing background to your racing fun. After that the special 3M adhesive strips need to be attached to the larger pieces of track for extra stability. That’s about it really, just join up the rest of the track together and then your ready and raring to go.
The set comes with one car included, but all the Hot Wheels we tried worked to some degree. It was a case of trial and error, as some were bigger and slower, and some were so fast they zoomed right off the end of the track. Playing around with the cars is all part of the fun though, and even when the cars got stuck or smashed spectacularly we were all laughing and enjoying it.
As you can see from the video below, the boys and me all loved playing with the Wall Tracks. As a parent the best part for me was that there was no huge car tracks snaked all over the floor. Having it up out of the wall is a genius idea, plus as it’s something totally different the kids think it’s very cool.
(Apologies for the very bad camerawork in the video. It’s really hard to hold the camera and sort out the track at the same time. Hopefully you get the idea that we all had a lot of fun with it)
One word of warning about the 3M command strips. I was a bit wary of putting the Track up on my walls as I was worried about the paintwork, even though the adhesive strips are supposed to be paintwork and wallpaper friendly. So I placed the set up on a wall which I wasn’t overly concerned about as it’s due a lick of paint very soon anyway, and hoped that the command strips would price me wrong.
Unfortunately for the wall Jacob’s car took a spectacularly big jump and ended up knocking a big piece of track out-of-place, and as it fell off it pulled the paint off the wall with it.
I have to admit I was slightly disappointed with this, but in all honesty I’m not sure if the paint wasn’t the best anyway, so maybe it was just a one-off incident. Even though I suggest you take it into consideration when deciding where to place your Wall Tracks set.
At the end of the day we had a total blast with the Hot Wheels Wall Tracks Mid Air Madness set, and dispute the paint issue at the end I would highly recommend it to other parents out there. A brilliant fun toy that the kids will love, and the big kid in you just can’t help to enjoy too.
Maybe not for your best living room wall though.
