Interstar Twisters – Review
Children love building things as it’s great fun, adults love children building things because
it keeps them busy (and quiet!).
Interstar Twisters are a great toy that use the joy of constructing things to help your child learn as they play. Unlike other building toys such as Lego, Duplo or Mega Blocks, Interstar Twisters are not blocks but twistable and bendable rigged plastic sticks and balls.

As they are not blocks, they do take a bit of getting used to for little hands. Thomas needed help first of all, until he understood that the lines had to run the same way to connect together. Once he grasped the concept he was away building things, although he did still need a bit of assistance sometimes with the tricky bits of his construction.
The Interstar construction system helps nurture creativity by allowing your child to construct their designs, and also develops fine motor skills and co-ordination.
Used in classrooms and pre-schools all around the world, Interstar construction toys have been designed to withstand all the bending and pulling your little ones throw at them. They will not break, splinter or discolour.
We have the Interstar Twisters pack containing the interconnecting sticks and balls, but there are different packs available with different parts. The Interstar Master Builder bucket is the deluxe set and contains over 70 pieces of the construction toy including Wheels, Axels, Sockets and the Twistable Balls.
Interstar Rings are star shaped rings that connect together. Brightly coloured – they are the perfect size for small hands also. A perfect first construction toy.
Our set came with a small booklet giving ideas for first construction projects. This was great, because it was a new concept to us it helped us understand the possibilities of the product. After making a few of the designs from the pictures like the strongman and Caterpillar above, we set about making something of our own.
An inspired design feature is the box lid, which has five slotted circles on the top. Acting a bit like a lego base board, it enables your designs to stand up or stay in one place.
As you may know my son is obsessed with locking his toys up, so the first thing we made was a jail. That was a big success, although it did mean that we couldn’t do anything else that day as he didn’t want to take the jail apart and start again.
We then found some great uses for the lid, we made a steering wheel and gearstick and then by adding some spokes to the steering wheel made a pirate ship’s wheel. I think the steering wheels are really good, because as the balls are twistable it means the wheels actually move back and forth. They were great fun!
I think as Thomas gets older he will gain more confidence when using the Interstar Twisters and then his imagination will be the only limit to his creations. This toy will last both of the boy’s for years to come.
The products mentioned are all available from the Tumble Tots online store. There are also loads of other great present ideas and toys for getting your toddlers moving and active.
