Disney announced this week that Rapunzel is to be made the 10th Official Disney Princess in a magical event to take place at Kensington Palace on the 2nd October 2011.
The nine existing Princesses Ariel, Aurora, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Mulan, Pocahontas, Snow White and Tiana will all be in attendance to welcome Rapunzel to the Disney Princess Family, as well as Vip’s, Celebrities and little princess from across the globe.
Becoming an official Disney Princess means that Rapunzel will be featured on all Disney Princess merchandise featuring multiple characters, and will also get her own line of gifts and toys.
On a more selfish note I’m also hoping that once it’s official she’ll be joining the other princesses at the Cinderella’s Royal Table in Walt Disney World, had an amazing breakfast here meeting all the princesses last year and can’t wait to go back and meet Rapunzel next time.
Independent charity Historic Royal Palaces has joined with Disney to help stage the event, in a collaboration that aims to encourage children all over the world to explore the stories behind the real kings, queens, princes and princesses alongside Disney’s “Our aim is to help everyone explore the stories of how monarchs and other royals have shaped society, in some of the greatest palaces ever built,”said Ruth Gill, Head of Interpretation at Historic Royal Palaces. “Kensington Palace has always been a place of spectacle, beauty and majesty, and home to many inspirational real-life Princesses. We are therefore delighted to celebrate our relationship with Disney by hosting this magical event that will welcome Rapunzel as the 10th member of the Disney Princess royal court.”
I was amazed to find out that Tangled is now one of the top ten Disney movies of all time! Ahead of Toy Story, Beauty and the Beast and Cars. Not that Tangled’s success is undeserved as it’s a great movie, just surprised the film has become a major hit so quickly. I took my boys to see it in the cinema recently, I wasn’t sure how they would react to what I thought was going to be a very girly film but I really wanted to see it so the boys had to come along. I shouldn’t have worried though as we all came out of the cinema beaming, it was just fantastic. The boys absolutely loved it and have been bugging me to get the DVD ever since. Anyway Thomas was thrilled today when I told him that Rapunzel was having her special royal celebration – On his birthday!
Festivities planned for the big day include a welcoming ceremony, party activities and a procession through Hyde Park. Sounds like this is going to be one amazing day!
