‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ Figures – Review

Unless you’ve been living under a rock somewhere in Middle Earth recently, You’ve probably heard about the new Hobbit film – An Unexpected Journey which opened nationwide in cinemas Yesterday.

As a huge huge fan of Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, I am brimming with excitement  to see the first Hobbit Film this weekend. Especially so as the boys and I have been enjoying our own epic battles all week in preparation for the release with some Hobbit action figure toys we were sent by  Vivid Toys and Games.

There are many different packs and figure sets available like The Beast Pack, The Battle Pack recreating Thorin Oakenshield taking on The Goblin King, and the Collectors Figure Assortment which feature bigger 6″ versions of the figures.

We were sent the Hobbit Five Figure Pack which includes Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield, Plus Kili, Fili and Dwalin the dwarves.

We all liked this set as it contains most of the main characters from the film. The boys love the fact that all the characters come with lots and lots of different types of weapons. We have Bows and arrows, hammers, various sized swords. Basically everything you’ll need to have a good scrap :)

All the figures have lots of articulation points. So Can twirl his huge hairy feet around, and Dwalin can twist around his arms and wrists hurling his huge hammer around.

I’m not that familiar with the actors that play most of the figures in the pack, but can say that the Martin Freeman/Bilbo Baggins Figure certainly has a good likeness. I like the fact that all the figures look so different, each has a different style of costume and weapon. They’re individuality really comes through in the toys.

We were also sent a blind bag  Collectable Figure Pack. Each Bag contains a mini figure on a base, plus a collectors file about the character. There are 17 to collect in all. We received Grinnah The Goblin – Only the Goblin King! That was a result.

The Collectable Figure Packs are great value at around £1.99 each, and look brilliant displayed on their bases.

We all had a great time trying out these new figures, And I’m sure that our enjoyment of these toys will just go up and up once we’ve seen the film and can start reenacting all our favourite scenes at home. Just can’t wait to go and see it now :)
